All About Painting Morathi

I've completed the witch, and it was quite an experience.  From it, I've learned that I'm not that much of a fan when it comes to painting black.  It's very hard to do the shadows.  I knew this from the capes on my scouts actually, but I tried it anyway.  I applied some of the same techniques too.  Anyway onto how this was put together, so my friend can do his own!  If you don't care about the process, feel free to gloss over the pictures =)  Just a note, I've used Citadel Paints for the entire model.  All color references will reference them.

Genestealers and Dark Elves

And so a new project begins. Here's what I've set aside to get done either by this weekend, or by the following weekend. I say that, because this weekend was totally beat out of whack due to social events and I had just enough time to set up the models to get ready for priming.

These will be the last of my Tyranids for a bit. After this I'll be switching back to the Marines in order to finish up some of the boxes I have left over. I'm slightly terrified a spider might have made a nest in the blackened drop pod I have laying about near the TV. That's going to be a surprise.

Tyranid Carnifex, and Ranged Warriors

Over the past... two weeks? I've gone about painting more of my new Tyranid army. I finished off the Carnifex of late, as well as 3 warriors. I've taken shots of the guys, but none of the usual stuff I do where they're racing across a rock surface or something of that sort. It's getting cold and dark in Norway, and by the time I get home these days, the light is fading away. I once use to say "I love the winter and hate the summers." Though with this new hobby of mine, I've found I miss the summer light more these days and dislike the winter nights. I've recently gotten stuck in my painting regime, as I can't get home soon enough for there to be enough light to spray paint the base coats on my models.

Either way, here they are. I did do some photo editing to bring out the colors better. I prefer what I did over what they were, though if you're a real photographer I'd love some pointers. perhaps they're a little TOOOOO colorful =)

Now, some of you have seen these guys in person, as I've brought them in to show off at the office. I can't help but show them off a bit, after all, only in painting do I feel like I actually accomplish something lately. It's a great stress reliever! Hopefully, those of you I pester and show them off to aren't annoyed. If you are, certainly tell me =) Though for those I can't personally show, let me tell you about them in a bit of detail. For those of you who want to see him, feel free to stop by my desk and visit the armada of creatures and vehicles =)

And so it begins.

I'm unsure about this! I've tried doing blogs or journals before and they tend to just fall flat on their face. It's not something I'm good at, mostly because I'm reserved. However, with art, I love to show off my creations. I hope to expand that to here, so I can show them off here and others can hopefully stumble across it and become interested in my creations. This, in turn, might drive me to do better and more stuff!

We'll see.

I've said things like this before.

I've not suceeded.

I want to keep this as an art journal of sorts though, and here is where I'll show off my work whatever it is that this work may be. Currently, my major focus is my model painting of various Warhammer figures. More specifically, Tyranids and Space Marines. I'd like to post step by step tutorials, or at least "How I do it," kinds of post and we'll see how that goes. Also though, I do dabble in the arts of traditional drawing. You'll likely see mostly animals, scenes, and fantasy art in that regard. They're my thing. I may also post pictures that I take, as I do like to try and take fanciful photo's of places I've been and seen. Lastly, and rarely, I do love to write. You may find something here and there written. Highly doubtful, but one never knows.

Anyhow! Please, if you're read anything on here and you want to say something, do. Good artist are only formed through critique and I'll not shy away from any given. If you like it, say so. If not, say so! I want to hear it all. I'm only offended by those who say nothing!
